Biography

Lukas Haitzmann is the Guinness World Record holder as the youngest person to cross an ocean alone and unsupported. At the age of 18, Lukas began his adventure of rowing 4,800 km alone from Europe to America.

For 59 days, his 'home' was a 7 meter long rowing boat between 10-12 meter high waves, with the closest people to him usually being the astronauts on the International Space Station. His story is not just about breaking a Guinness World Record at the age of 18; it's about pushing the boundaries of what is possible.

Lukas Haitzmann's story:

It begins in a very ordinary way. In his younger years, he struggled with dyslexia, which made his school days difficult. He dreamed of being called up to various sports teams, which never quite happened. Although he didn't particularly excel in sports, this was the catalyst that gave him confidence.

Lukas Haitzmann started small on the school rowing team and progressed to endurance cycling and marathon running, steadily building his confidence. He began to take on bigger and bolder challenges. Until that winter day in 2018, when he launched his rowing boat from the shores of La Gomera, using only his determination, courage and self-belief.

After conquering the Atlantic, Lukas didn't stop there. He completed a degree in mechanical engineering and later turned his concern about plastic pollution in the oceans into action by founding a company focused on sustainability. As its CEO, he is at the forefront of the fight against environmental issues, inspired by his time at sea.
